Ranger Service

Image of a Ranger at work!

Here at Rouken Glen Park, we have a variety of Ranger Staff:

The Activity Ranger

Thanks to funding from the Heritage Lottery Funded Project at Rouken Glen, an Activity Ranger provides a programme of events and activities throughout the year in the park.

Katy Green, our Activity Ranger undertakes education and volunteering activities in the park.  Nine Curriculum for Excellence lesson plans have been been prepared for Early, First and Second stages.

Other bespoke education and volunteering activities can be arranged for your school, corporate or local community group.  Please contact the Activities Staff on 0141-638 4121 or email roukenglenpark@eastrenfrewshire.gov.uk to discuss.

Katy (pictured right) has been working in conservation for many years and has a lot of knowledge about wildlife and practical habitat management. She is highly experienced leading a range of groups of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.

The Park Rangers

We currently have five Park Rangers, who carry out daily maintenance duties around the park, including emptying litter bins, gritting paths in winter, general repair and maintenance work around the park and manning the Pavilion Visitor Centre and its "Story of Rouken Glen" Exhibition as a point of information for visitors to the park.

Garry has a range of conservation management and practical skills and provides advice to conservation bodies.

He is an expert in bats and has carried out numerous surveys in the park.

The Work of our Park Rangers

The Park Rangers provide advice and assistance to people using the Rouken Glen.  They also check that the park is safe and that any damage or problems are reported and dealt with quickly.

Between them, they have a huge amount of knowledge about the park, especially the plants and animals.
